Thanks everyone! We received logo submissions from 7 people, but even from the start we had a clear favourite. The CallWeaver project now has a new logo, a mascot and brand new colors thanks to Paulo Scardine. The original idea was based on a village weaver, a bird which builds large coarsely woven nests, but was changed several times by Paulo to get the look and feel we wanted.

Paulo’s own description of the logo:

This design was based on a photo of the bird known as Village Weaver. The Village Weaver (Ploceus cucullatus) is a resident breeding bird species in much of sub-Saharan Africa, and has been introduced to Haiti. This weaver builds a large coarsely woven nest made of grass and leaf strips with a downward facing entrance which is suspended from a branch in a tree. 2-3 eggs are laid. This is a colonial breeder, so many nests may hang from one tree.

We appreciate the effort you have all put into your logos, and a large thank you goes out to all of you, but a special one to Paulo Scardine.

We will most probably be redesigning the website soon too, so stay tuned!

I like the logo also, and wanted to thank all guys behind callweaver for their efforts. Is there any way to show my support for the project as a private person like a page of supporters or the possibility to donate?

Credit where credit is due: The info about the bird I took from wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Village_weaver) The design was based initially on this photo: (http://www.mangoverde.com/birdsound/picpages/pic192-43-4.html)
